Classroom Environment
Our goal is to create a fun, safe, engaging learning environment for your children. Our expectations our set on an agreement that the teacher, parents, guardians, and child will all work together to meet the social, academic, physical and emotional needs of your child.
AcademicsThe children are expected to follow the school wide make your day rule as well as the rules in the classroom. We have 3 simple rules. Show Respect, Solve Problems, and Make Good Decisions. Following these rules will ensure a rich academic learning environment. As well as in the classroom the children will have homework every night. Your child is expected to read at least 20 minutes every night, spelling words to study, as well they may bring home a blue math sheet to complete. Please record reading minutes on their behavior calendar. Also, please make sure you look at their take home folder every day and that it comes to school each day. This folder contains their daily work as well as any information from their school;.
EmotionalLife brings all of us surprises that may change routines for our children. School is very important and they need to be here when they can. If any life changes come up please communicate with us so we can get your child schoolwork or try to work with you to get them to school. Some life changes also have an effect on behaviors in the classroom. If you are seeing a difference please let us know. Open communication is very important.

PhysicalThere are things proven to make sure that your child is ready to learn. They need a good night sleep, good breakfast, and punctual mornings. Please try to establish good sleep routines so your child is bright eyed and bushy tailed for the morning. If the child will not eat breakfast at home, please make sure they understand when they get to school they need to eat breakfast first, before they play. Also try to have your morning routines established so your child is not tardy to school and disrupting the other student's routines. If your child is sick please try to keep them home. We only have a school nurse available 1 1/2 days out of the week. We also do not want to spread illnesses around the classroom. We understand things happen but this is a partnership between all of us and we all want the best for your child.
SocialWe understand and encourage friendships in school and out. Child hood best friends are something that will always be cherished. If invitations are coming to school please have your child give them to the teacher. We will pass them out in a way that student's will not feel left out. We constantly remind the students that we are a family in our classroom and everyone is our friend. However, we know that some friendships grow stronger! We are not allowed to give out personal information (phone numbers) if your child asks but I can pass on notes from the take home folder.
