Your child may have brought home a Mealworm or a Brassica Plant, or both! We have been watching these two living organisms for the last month and the kids have been anxiously learning about the life cycle of each. Here is a little information you could ask them about or they could share with you!
Mealworms
Below you will find pictures of the mealworm life cycle. Most of the student's insect was still a mealworm going home. A few were in the pupa stage. The insects eat the bran already in the cup for food and just need a carrot or a potato for a water source. Once they are in the pupa stage they don't need anything. Then depending how long you keep the beetle :) they will need a carrot or potato again!
Brassica Plant
Below are some pictures of the Brassica's life cycle. Most student's plants were just growing flowers before they took them home. In 7-10 days the flowers will die and produce seed pods.
